About

I am a physician-scientist studying the genetic and biological mechanisms of early-onset psychiatric disorders to improve diagnosis and treatment.

I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSF, where I conduct basic science research and see patients in the adult and child OCD and Tics Clinics. I completed my undergraduate, MD, and PhD training at Harvard, followed by residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UCSF.

My research focuses on defining the genetic, molecular, and cellular mechanisms of early-onset psychiatric disorders, with the long-term goals of improving diagnostic and treatment approaches. My recent work leveraged human genetics, proteomics, and systems biology to specify protein complexes, molecular mechanisms, and cell types that underlie autism spectrum disorder. I am now applying similar approaches to OCD and Tourette disorder to identify key risk genes and disease signatures.

Outside of work, you can find me playing with my kids, hiking, baking, or at Costco.
